The pithead baths “Salle des pendus” was once the changing and dressing room for the mineworkers. The clothes hung on hooks, therefore was this room called “Salle des pendus”. The hanging clothes could dry easier and faster as in the closets. Furthermore this installation simplified the floor cleaning. Each worker had his own chain closed by a padlock.
