To mark the Train 1900 Open Day, the Fond-de-Gras invites you to enjoy an extraordinary railway experience: an immersion into the world of historic diesel locomotives from the 1950s.
The diesel locomotives of the 1604 Classics association, brought to the Fond-de-Gras especially for the occasion, will bring the tracks to life. An exceptional fleet will be in action: locomotives 1806, 1604, 856, 804, 455 and 1023, as well as the historic Z208 (Westwaggon) and Z105 (De Dietrich) railcars. Train 1900’s Z151 railcar will also be taking part.
At the same time, a Train 1900 steam locomotive will be running throughout the day, offering a striking contrast between two major eras of railway history.
The Minièresbunn will of course also be running. Exceptionally, it will not enter the mine on this day, but will instead take visitors on a journey through the natural surroundings of the Fond-de-Gras.
A 5-inch gauge miniature railway, which visitors can ride on, takes them on a journey of around 100 metres through the railway shed.
Author Viviane Daman will present her new detective novel for children and sign her books, which will be available for purchase on site from her publisher, Éditions Phi.
Kids Corner: creative workshop, games and reading corner, as well as a visit from our mascot Dämpi. Activities for children throughout the day!
ProActif, an employment support programme that assists the Train 1900 with the restoration of historic railway equipment, will be on site to present its work.
