One poster, one season, one artist

It all began in 2023 with the creation of a poster to promote the Minett Park season. Its success inspired us to turn the idea into an annual tradition: each year, a new artist reinterprets the Minett Park in their own way, with just two required elements: a locomotive and the slogan “Experience an adventure beyond time”.

2024 – Malou Mathieu

We first met Malou Mathieu through the creation of her book “Minett”, an artistic journey through Luxembourg’s former mining region. Passionate about urban sketching, she travelled throughout the south of the country, capturing landscapes, industrial heritage and buildings directly on location – including at Fond-de-Gras and Lasauvage.

It therefore seemed only natural to invite her to create the Minett Park poster for the 2024 season. Combining watercolour and drawing, her composition brings together several iconic elements of the site: the Train 1900 steam locomotive, the Minièresbunn mine train emerging from its tunnel, the rail bikes and the Fond-de-Gras railway station. The composition blends industrial heritage with abundant nature – two elements that are inseparable from the landscape of Fond-de-Gras.

About the Artist

Malou Mathieu is a Luxembourgish artist and author. After completing various courses in painting and drawing in Luxembourg, she has devoted herself primarily to urban sketching for more than ten years – a practice that involves drawing places directly on location and capturing them in the moment.

She particularly enjoys working outside the studio, as it allows her to observe and capture the atmosphere of a place. It also encourages encounters with passers-by, who sometimes share their anecdotes and stories with her.

In 2022, she published Minett, the result of several years spent exploring and sketching Luxembourg’s former mining region. She is currently working on a second book dedicated to the former Attert railway line.
