Although Lasauvage is a village in the municipality of Differdange (Luxembourg), geographically it is closer to the French village of Saulnes. And to get there, you don’t have to take a sloping path through the forest as you do with Differdange, but follow an easily passable path.
That is why, when they did not have cars, the inhabitants drove to France to go to the market or to church. The children also attended school there, where lessons were held in French as a matter of course. For a long time, the villagers of Lasauvage therefore spoke mainly French and less Luxembourgish.
Lasauvage was long known as the “Frenchest village in Luxembourg”.
