Following the traces of iron in a Jurassic world – The Giele Botter Geological Circuit
The Minette iron ore is at the origin of Luxembourg’s industrial development. The former open-cast quarries are now biodiversity hotspots but still bear the traces of their geological past. Discover the ancient history of the Minette region and the former ecosystems of the Jurassic world in which the iron ore was formed 175 million years ago.

Robert Weis is a scientific assistant and manager of the paleontological collections at the Naturmusée. He coordinated the establishment of the new geological circuit at Giele Botter and is also the co-author of several books on the geology of the Minette.
