As part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, an impressive armada of Diesel locomotives dating from the 1950s will circulate throughout the day.
The Fond-de-Gras is indeed known for its exquisite steam locomotives. However, this Sunday June 17th they will be at rest. Thanks to the collaboration between the Train 1900, the "service des sites et monuments nationaux" and the "1604 Classics" association, historical CFL material will be presented. A rare event that can’t be missed!
The "1604 Classics" association will be present with its Westwagon as well as the “856” and “804” locomotives, one of which will tow the Decauville trailer. The “804” locomotive will make its first outing since its major revision. At the station, visitors will also be able to admire the “455” locomotive.
The presented material by the “Train 1900” will be its outstanding “Autorail Uerdinger” as well as the “2001” locomotive.
To complete this day dedicated to railway material, the visitors will be able to take part in guided tours through the railway halls of the the “Train 1900”. To discover is not only the running material but also the history of the association as well as the railway in Luxembourg. Guided tours in French and Luxembourgish. Schedules are yet to be confirmed.
For visitors, one could not imagine a better way than to join the Fond-de-Gras by Train 1900, from its departure platform point in Pétange (rue de Niederkorn, free parking). Departures at 11:00*, 13:20, 14:15, 15:10, 16:15, 17:10, 18:25. *Schedule to be confirmed.
As for the mining train "Minièresbunn", it will count four departures: at 13:00, 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00 throughout an impressive journey in the heart of the mine.
At the buffet of the charming Fond-de-Gras train station, snacks, homemade cakes and refreshments will be available throughout the day.
